Steve Tomkins, Director of Pinpointers, explained to us that he had initially approached Just Cashflow to facilitate a short term funding stream in order to expand and develop his business. Steve explained he had been trying to talk to someone at his bank for three months about an overdraft and eventually gave up; he then narrowed his lending preferences down to three alternative finance lenders. When asked why he chose Just Cashflow, Steve explained that when he spoke with the team explaining his business needs he felt that Just Cashflow would support his business and work as a partner in its future growth. He went on to explain that in his opinion, banks were great at supporting SMEs ten years ago, however, this has decreased, especially over the last 5 years and now there is very little if not no support from the banks, with dedicated SME account managers becoming a thing of the past. He also noted that his funding was in place with Just Cashflow within two to three weeks.
The initial lending facility was utilised to dip into when it was required to purchase stock to facilitate customer orders. As customers are on 30-day invoice terms, cash flow for stock purchases required to facilitate significant increases in sales volumes could sometimes be problematic. As the banks were almost impossible to have a meaningful conversation with, the Just Cashflow solution provided the ideal cash flow support.
Steve also explained to us that market penetration is key to business growth and as their key supplier is overseas, it is essential that forecasting be undertaken in order to ensure stock supplies are available for delivery.
Following his initial use of the Just Cashflow facility he received a call from Jamie of the Just Cashflow Business Growth Team. The Business Growth Team communicates with our customers on a regular basis in order to ensure they are happy with the services they are receiving, together with discussing business growth plans. At this stage of contact Steve was very happy with the service and had no immediate growth plans, however, he explained that he had been very grateful for the call, as very soon after their business received some very large unforecasted orders. p.
Steve explained in his experience we were, "the only lender to make the process quick and simple".
Pinpointers is a subscription based model and therefore sales are not key to businesses cash flow, however, Steve explained to us that sales are key to business growth and it was for this reason there was a requirement to revisit the conversation with Jamie.
Steve explained that there is nothing more frustrating in business than "succeeding as a business, but not being able to grow due to a lack of funding or that injection of cash needed to fuel that growth. Especially when the lending requirement is such a short space of time i.e. 20 days or less".
When the business experienced substantial new orders they contacted Jamie at Just Cashflow. Steve explained that Jamie understood the requirement for additional funding in order to facilitate the recent influx of new customers and orders. He went on to explain that with Jamie's assistance the funding was available within 48 hours and orders with the supplier could be made.
When asked about the many benefits of having the BusinessPlus Mastercard Steve explained that the facility provides him with the ability to either draw down on the funds or purchase supplies over the telephone and online if required. He went on to say that whilst he currently does not use EmploymentPlus or ProtectPlus, he has the piece of mind that should he require them, they are benefits that are available to him, adding further value.
Steve told us how he understands that borrowing money to grow your business is not a bad thing; in fact, it is a very good thing if it is done for the right reasons i.e. to fuel business growth based on an increased demand for your business's products and services.
When asked about working with Just Cashflow Steve explained that from the outset, dealing with Just Cashflow at every juncture all the team members had been extremely helpful and at all times he felt they were there to help and support his business. At every stage of the process Steve explained he felt like he was taking to a human as opposed to a computer that may say "no". The human touch had made all the difference to his customer experience, which is something he felt the bank had lost and is an important factor when talking money, stating, "it's a two way relationship". He went on to say he had confidence in the team "they understand who you are and what you need".
One of the key factors that impressed Steve was the continuity in service; he had an Account Manager, which meant he spoke to the same person each time he called, this was key to the success of the facility for him as a customer.
In addition, Steve again noted the proactive call from Jamie, highlighting the fact that Jamie wanted to know more about the business and work with the business to help it grow. Steve noted, "It was great to speak with someone who appreciates your business and wants to talk about helping you grow".
When asked if he would use Just Cashflow again, Steve response was "In a heartbeat". He explained his experience has shown that "Just Cashflow is a responsible lender who takes the time to understand your business model, its cash flow challenges and the reasons behind the lending requirement.
Others were simply taking a risk assessment based on personal guarantees and therefore offering lending for the wrong reasons and with no real understanding of the business they were lending to. Just Cashflow is not that type of lender and I will continue to use Just Cashflow and highly recommend them."
